About Chef Sean

Chef Sean started out in film before he expanded to making pop-minded rap with R&B tendencies. While still working as an actor, his secondary passion for music brought Auto-Tuned raps and huge beats to songs like 2019's "No Name." Chef Sean was born Sean Christopher in 1982 and started acting at a young age. When he was 12, he landed a role in the romantic drama Jason's Lyric, and continued in television roles over the years. His music took several forms over the years, including lead vocals and songwriting duties in several configurations. With his solo work as Chef Sean, his songs took different stylistic turns with each new single. Early songs like 2016's "Color Money" had a more celebratory old-school hip-hop energy, but he grew into darker trap production and surly, drug-referencing lyrics on subsequent singles like "Dope Up" and "Overdose." His 2019 single "No Name" featured vocalist Siya singing a mellow R&B hook, with Chef Sean's rapping taking a decidedly more poppy approach. ~ Fred Thomas
