In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Hearing Fela Kuti's "Zombie" while I was growing up in Lagos, Nigeria in the 80s was decisive. Fela's music was everywhere and my parents shared it with me when I just a child. "Zombie" has deeply influenced me and shaped my sense of rhythm. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Glenn Gould, Bach: The Goldberg Variations (1955 Version) NOFX, Punk in Drublic Prince, Sign O' The Times (Super Deluxe Edition) 2020 Remaster Bach's Goldberg Variations: youth, exuberance, freedom and rigor. Prince's Sign O' The Times: a synthesis of funk, social commentary and scenic power. NOFX's Punk in Drublic: a perfect punk rock record, in its songwriting and execution. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Recording with Chaka Khan and Taka Boom in the studio was a memorable moment, playing CBGB in NYC in the 1990s was another, opening for Gnarls Barkley at The Roxy in LA another, playing live in Havana, Cuba was exceptional also!
