Texas native Charley Crockett is an Americana artist known for incorporating blues, country, and soul music. ∙ Crockett, a distant relative of Davy Crockett, first gained attention busking in New York City subways and leading the band Trainrobbers. ∙ After moving back to Texas, he self-released his 2015 debut album, A Stolen Jewel, and won Best Blues Act at the Dallas Observer Music Awards. ∙ Lonesome as a Shadow, his first hit record, broke the Top 20 of Billboard’s Heatseekers Album chart in 2018. ∙ His many collections of country and blues standards include 2017’s Lil G.L.’s Honky Tonk Jubilee, 2018’s Lil G.L.’s Blue Bonanza, and 2020’s Field Recordings, Vol. 1. ∙ He enlisted Grammy Award-winning Black Keys producer Mark Neill for the 2020 album Welcome To Hard Times.
