Cat Janice is a classically trained American alt-pop singer, songwriter, and producer with an ethereal voice and a punchy, groove-laden sound. The Virginia native's assured blend of alt-rock, disco-pop, and EDM was just gaining momentum when Janice was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive type of cancerous tumor in 2022. She addressed the tumultuous period on 2023's Modern Medicine. Later that year, she found that the cancer had metastasized to her lung. On January 19, 2024, just four days after entering hospice, she released the ebullient single "Dance Outta My Head," which became an international hit.
