About Buddy

Multi-faceted Compton rapper and singer Buddy has earned praise for both his solo material and his MVP performance on J. Cole’s Revenge of the Dreamers III compilation.

• Buddy grew up singing, acting, and dancing. He was a “full-fledged entertainer” before he was a rapper.
• In 2009, TV music supervisor Scott Vener got his tunes in the hands of famed producer Pharrell, who signed Buddy to his I Am Other label.
• Buddy’s 2014 debut mixtape, Idle Time, features collaborations with Kendrick Lamar and Miley Cyrus.
• After inking a deal with RCA Records in 2018, Buddy released his long-awaited debut album, Harlon & Alondra, named for the cross streets of his childhood home.
• Buddy is a member of the supergroup Zoink Gang, which also features Smino, JID, and Guapdad 4000. The foursome linked up with J. Cole for “Oh Wow….Swerve,” off the star-studded 2019 compilation Revenge of the Dreamers III.
• Buddy appears on four other Dreamers III tracks—he declared himself “Rap Camp MVP.”
• In 2020, Buddy teamed with Kent Jamz of the Crenshaw rap collective OverDoz. for the introspective Janktape Vol. 1 EP.
