About Bouwer Bosch

Born in Pretoria in 1984, Bouwer Bosch formed his first band, the Afrikaans Christian-rock group Straatligkinders, in 2006 while studying at North-West University in Potchefstroom. However, in 2011, he broke through as a solo artist with the release of Almal Maak Voute, on which his calm voice delivered profound pop songs that explored faith, human connection, and vulnerability. His heartfelt lyrics were surprising but still warmly received in an Afrikaans music community where such open displays of tenderness have traditionally been avoided. After his debut, Bosch released Hopelik in 2016, and took on the role of unofficial national unifier with the 2020 anthem “Liefde Love Uthando” featuring Gazelle and Freddy L.
