About BMX Bandits

Since the mid 1980s, Scottish singer-songwriter and unabashed romantic Duglas T.Stewart has been performing his sweet and quirky brand of indie pop with a rotating cast of backing musicians (including future members of Teenage Fanclub and the Soup Dragons) under the name BMX Bandits. Although the band itself has never achieved megastardom, they were a keystone of the harmony-laden, twee "anorak" movement of the '80s. Like other child-men before him, Stewart's surface innocence masks, but doesn't completely obscure, a biting wit and an expert sense of songcraft. BMX Bandits have a cult following all over the world, particularly in Japan, and have released albums on a fairly steady schedule since 1989.
