About Blackman Preach

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember going to see Gladys Knight and the Pips in concert at the Foxwood Casino in 1996 or 97. It was one of my favorite memories of all time. Mrs. Gladys Knight pulled me in with every soulful rendition of her classics. She's the best ever! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Eric B. & Rakim, Paid In Full Expanded Michael Jackson, Off the Wall Run-DMC, Run-D.M.C. These 3 albums elevated pop culture and my journey as an adolescent interested in music production. They will continue to be the soundtracks of my early experience in Paterson, New Jersey. Of course, I cut loose when I hear their songs anywhere! Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Word” Out of the 3 albums (State of the Ghetto Address, Bumpy Tymes, & 12 Years Gone) that I have recorded, this is my favorite song. It the first time my wife Dr. Gwendolyn D. Pough stepped into a booth to contribute to my second album Bumpy Tymes. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? The most memorable moments in my career is opening for The Last Poets and Slick Rick. I have had the opportunity to perform with some of my favorite Hip Hop and spoken word poets. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I would love to be nominate and win a Grammy in Spoken Word Poetry or as a producer on another project. I have to claim it in 2022 and keep working until I achieve this goal in the near future.
