About Bishop Paul S. Morton, Sr.

While Bishop Paul S. Morton was born in Canada, and his father shuttled between congregations on either side of the Detroit River, he’s eternally associated with the city of New Orleans. It was in the Big Easy, at the helm of St. Steven's Missionary Baptist Church (a rank he attained in 1975), that Bishop Morton attained a name in the gospel universe. Infusing his old-school choir with flecks of soul and the odd reference, Morton would become a mainstay in NOLA, one who would be a rousing symbol of rebirth in the wake of Hurricane Katrina with his 2006 record, STILL STANDING.
