About Billy Ocean

Billy Ocean scored his first hit in 1976. "Love Really Hurts Without You" peaked on the singles chart at number two in the U.K. and number 22 in the U.S. The England native (who was born in Trinidad and raised there until the age of eight) continued to issue minor hits during the next several years, but a true breakthrough didn't come until 1984, when "Caribbean Queen" topped the charts worldwide. A string of extremely popular singles -- including "Lover Boy," "Suddenly," "When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going," and "Get Outta My Dreams, Get into My Car" -- followed through 1988. Ocean continued to record and perform sporadically for well over 20 years. ~ Greg Prato
