About Big Head Todd & The Monsters
Since the late ’80s, Big Head Todd & The Monsters have been fixtures on the robust jam-band circuit thanks to their faithful preservation of classic rock and blues standards. Formed by guitarist/vocalist Todd Mohr and drummer Brian Nevin in Colorado in the mid-’80s, the group hit the road and toured heavily, amassing a supportive fanbase before signing to a major label in 1993 for Sister Sweetly. The album featured several mainstream-rock hits—including the blues-tinged “Bittersweet” and “Broken Hearted Savior”—that introduced them to an even bigger audience. The group maintained this vibe on subsequent albums—1997’s Jerry Harrison-produced Beautiful World featured John Lee Hooker on a cover of his famous song “Boom Boom”—while maintaining a solid touring schedule. Post-Y2K, Big Head Todd & The Monsters have burrowed deeper into their blues roots with their Big Head Blues Club alter ego (the 2011 tribute album 100 Years of Robert Johnson) while digging into heavier rock grooves and Americana flourishes alike on the 2017 release New World Arisin’.
