About Atreyu

Described as “too goth to be emo, too metal to be punk, and too brazenly emotional to be metal,” Atreyu has a wide range of influences—from Johnny Cash to the Gothenburg metal scene.

· Originally called Retribution, they renamed themselves Atreyu, after the name of a character in Michael Ende’s fantasy novel The Neverending Story.
· Their albums Congregation of the Damned, Long Live, and In Our Wake made the Top 10 of Billboard’s US Hard Rock and US Rock charts, while Lead Sails Paper Anchor hit No. 1.
· They have contributed songs to the soundtracks for the films Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Underworld: Evolution.
· Their songs are featured on the soundtracks for the video games Madden NFL 2007, Madden NFL 2008, and Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock.
From 2011 to 2014, the band took a hiatus while the members pursued the side-projects I Am War, Hell or Highwater, and Fake Figures.
