Ascension of the Watchers

About Ascension of the Watchers

A much more subdued and open aesthetic as opposed to Burton C. Bell and John Bechdel's work in former groups such as Fear Factory, Killing Joke, Prong, and Ministry, Ascension of the Watchers began to explore the more acoustic and atmospheric sides of music in early 2002. Needing a break from the frenetic pace of Los Angeles, the aforementioned duo retired to rural Pennsylvania to sculpt their initial work. Their first release, 2005's Iconoclast, was followed by a handful of live dates and some small scale tours in the United States and Canada. In 2007, the project caught the attention of former collaborator, Ministry leader Alain Jourgensen, who signed the band to his 13th Planet Records. The band soon went into the studio to record their first ‘official' album in 2007, roping in Edu Mussi into the line up, and inviting musical input from such names as Paul Raven and the aforementioned Jourgensen. The final product, Experience Numinosum, was released in February of 2008. The release was followed by a short tour. ~ Chris True
