About Argent

Upon the demise of his underappreciated yet influential band, The Zombies, in 1969, British keyboard virtuoso Rod Argent founded the self-named Argent. Rather than remaking “Time of the Season” again and again, Argent dedicated itself to exploring the subtler shades of jazz and progressive rock that had only just started to show up on Zombies albums. Despite only one chart success, Argent had a long and respected career, and songs such as the hit single “Hold Your Head Up” are still classic rock staples. In addition, artists as diverse as Kiss and Three Dog Night garnered their own hits by covering Argent songs.
