About Aquarian Dream

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I founded the band in 1975, designing a sound that would be different from anything heard on the radio. I combined Jazz and commercial music before leaving the group signing with Buddha Records and joining the Starship Orchestra. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Herbie Hancock, Speak Like a Child John Coltrane, The Very Best of John Coltrane Miles Davis, Kind of Blue These albums all push the boundaries of genre. The musicians who composed and performed do so with exceptional mastery. These are Jazz masters who I studied and where influenced by. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “You're a Star” This song has Jazz elements including room for solos. The up-tempo rhythm is energetic and the song explored the musical range of the musicians, all of who have cross over ability. We loved performing this song and it was a fan favorite on gigs. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Signing with Buddah Records was a highlight during my career as Aquarian Dream. It was great to see the members come together having been chosen in an intensive search for the right talent to execute the vision I had for Aquarian Dream. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I am looking forward to bringing about a resurgence to the classic Aquarian Dream sound. This was a truly unique sound that fused R&B, Disco with Jazz overtones. There was really nothing like it, and it still has worldwide appeal, decades later.
