Anzû Quartet

Based in New York City and formed in 2020, Anzû Quartet plays contemporary chamber works for cello, clarinet, piano, and violin. The quartet’s members are Ashley Bathgate (cello), Olivia de Prato (violin), Karl Larson (piano), and Ken Thomson (clarinet). Its mission is to give living composers the opportunity to write more pieces for the unique set of instruments available to Olivier Messiaen when he composed Quartet for the End of Time at a war prison camp in 1941. The ensemble has commissioned and premiered works by Anna Webber, Aftab Darvishi, and Ryan Carter, among other composers. After a debut album of newly composed pieces titled adjust in 2025, Anzû Quartet released a recording of Quartet for the End of Time in 2026.
