About Anna Paradiso

A native of Bari, Italy, harpsichordist Anna Paradiso studied with Gordon Murray in Vienna, and continued at Oxford University and the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, where she studied with Mayumi Kamata and Ulf Söderberg, and earned her master's degree. She specialized in Italian Baroque music and basso continuo, working with Enrico Baiano, and studied French music in Paris with Christophe Rousset. Paradiso holds a Ph.D. in classical Latin poetry. She has performed at festivals in the United States, Europe, and Asia, and has appeared as a concerto soloist with several orchestras. Paradiso is a co-founder of the period ensemble Paradiso Musicale, and formed the group with Dan Laurin, Henrik Frendin, and Mats Olofsson, giving historically informed renditions of works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, and Georg Philipp Telemann. Paradiso has also made a special project of recording the music of Johan Helmich Roman, a founding figure in Swedish Baroque music, and is involved with reviving 18th century Neapolitan music. Based in Sweden, Paradiso has given lectures on rhetoric and harpsichord in the U.K., Italy, and Finland. ~ Blair Sanderson
