About Ann Moss
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was 10 years old my dad bought a CD player and told me and my brother we could each pick out 3 CDs at Tower Records. My selection were "So" by Peter Gabriel, "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper, and "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Joni Mitchell, The Hissing of Summer Lawns Peter Gabriel, Secret World Live The Stone Roses, The Stone Roses Remastered 2009 I'll never forget hearing the first few notes of side 2 of Joni's Hissing; my life changed in that moment. Peter and his collaborators on Secret World lift my heart every time I listen. And The Stone Roses album is just a perfect album from my youth. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Time After Time” This is maybe my favorite thing I've ever made. I arranged this song during the quarantine period of COVID19 at the request of a childhood friend. I was feeling so sad and alone. I love that something beautiful emerged from that dark, frightful time. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Singing solo with the San Francisco Symphony for the first time was incredible. I was collaborating with a conductor named Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser and it was his SF Symphony debut too. We were like kids in a candy store. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I'd love to make an album with a small combo of bass, drums and piano. As an artist with roots in the Classical genre, I don't get to sing with drums very often but I love the intimacy of a quartet and I just think that would be so much fun.
