Angelin Chang studied with a number of prestigious teachers, with degrees and certificates from Ball State, Indiana, and Johns Hopkins universities, and the Paris Conservatoire. Her time in Paris no doubt had something to do with her 2006 recording of Messiaen's Oiseaux Exotiques with the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, conducted by John McLaughlin Williams winning a Grammy Award for best instrumental soloist performance with orchestra. Chang was the Kennedy Center's first artist-in-residence and was Yamaha's first Academic Performing artist, often using the company's Disklavier in her studio as a teaching tool. Chang teaches at Cleveland State University, both in the music department and at the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, where she earned her doctorate in law. She also has served on boards of several music education organizations. Angelin was Chang's first solo recording, released in 2007. Prior to that, she recorded Soaring Spirit with violist Joseph de Pasquale, a frequent chamber music partner of Chang's.
