About An-Ten-Nae

Born Adam Ohana in New York, Oakland, California-based electronic producer An-Ten-Nae combines deep bass rumbles with glitchy atmosphere in a style of music he has dubbed "acid crunk." His experimental sound was first heard on his debut EP, Acid Crunk 1, released in 2008. The follow-up arrived the same year, with three installations issued in 2009, of which Acid Crunk 3 was the first to feature multiple songs. By 2012, Ohana had released ten parts of the series. His debut LP, Raindrops on Roses, was issued in 2013. The collection featured the title track with Alice D. as well as his remix of Pair of Arrows' "Vestige" and "Unplug from the Machine," which featured his side project LowRIDERz. The next year, Ohana formed another side group with fellow Bay Area producer Releece. The duo, dubbed Dimond Saints, issued a series of EPs and a proper full-length, Prism in the Dark. As An-Ten-Nae, Ohana released his sophomore effort, Transmissions, in 2015. Following the single "Baratang" with Soo Han, Ohana unveiled album number three, Medicine (Muti Music). Featuring hypnotizing instrumentals and global influences on tracks that were less bass-heavy than his Acid Crunk series, Medicine included "Running with Shadows" featuring vocalist Amelia Rae and the Maori haka-sampling "Kia Toa." ~ Neil Z.
