About Alfredo Perl
Alfredo Perl is a Chilean-German conductor and pianist. He began studying piano in his childhood. He studied with Carlos Botto at the Universidad de Chile in Santiago, and later studied with Günter Ludwig at the Musikhochschule in Cologne, and with Maria Curcio in London. He gave his first concert at age 9, and then played recitals throughout South America and Europe, also appearing as a soloist with the Santiago Philharmonic Orchestra and the Zagreb Symphony Orchestra. In competitions, Perl won several awards, most notably in the Ferruccio Busoni Competition in Bolzano, and the Beethoven Competition in Vienna, as well as winning first prize at the International Piano Competition in Montevideo. In 1992, Perl made his debut at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. Since then, he gave recitals in London, Edinburgh, Vienna, Prague, Munich, Moscow, Osaka, and Buenos Aires, among other cities. He went on tour, performing Beethoven's 32 piano sonatas, in which he became a specialist, and he finished recording the complete cycle in 1996. Perl's repertoire also includes the music of Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, and Busoni. Additionally, Perl took up the baton and became the conductor of the Detmold Chamber Orchestra.
