About Alexandre Bloch

Alexandre Bloch became a rising star of France's conducting scene when he assumed the music directorship of the Orchestre National de Lille in 2016. The year 2012 saw major breakthroughs in Bloch's career: he won the Donatella Flick Conducting Competition of the London Symphony Orchestra, leading to an assistant conductorship there; he was named Talent of the Year by ADAMI (the French counterpart to ASCAP in the U.S.); and he made last-minute appearances with the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, replacing the ailing Mariss Jansons at the helm for Richard Strauss' challenging Tod und Verklärung. Bloch made his recording debut in 2017, leading the Orchestre de l'Opéra National de Lyon on the album Thierry Escaich: Baroque Song. Bloch led the Orchestre National de Lille for several albums, including a recording of Mahler's Symphony No. 7 in 2020 and one of Poulenc's La Voix Humaine, featuring soprano Véronique Gens.
