About Alexander Biggs

The hazy, melancholic indie folk of Melbourne's Alexander Biggs can trace its roots back to Americana acts like Elliott Smith and Iron & Wine yet sees him stamping his own mark on the sound with releases such as 2018's "Car Ride" and 2019's "Miserable." Growing up on a diet of Paramore and My Chemical Romance, the early sound of American emo was firmly embedded in Biggs' consciousness before he was turned on to Elliott Smith's brand of indie rock. Biggs debuted in 2016 with the release of singles "Out in the Dark" and "Tidal Wave," while tour dates followed in support of the likes of Julien Baker, Frightened Rabbit, and Evan Dando. 2017 saw the release of his debut EP, Still You Sharpen Your Teeth, which pushed his woozy indie folk to the masses via national radio. The following year, Biggs headed overseas for the first time to play select dates in the U.K. before putting out his debut mini-album, the seven-track Whatever Helps You Sleep. Including the singles "Car Ride" and "Close Enough," the release saw Biggs becoming a mainstay on national radio and streaming platforms. He debuted new material in 2019, including the tracks "Miserable" and "Madeline." ~ Rich Wilson
