About 7 Year Bitch
Inspired by fellow Seattle scenesters the Gits, Selene Vigil (vocals), Stefanie Sargent (guitar), Valerie Agnew (drums), Elizabeth Davis (bass), and Lisa Faye Beatty (guitar) came together as 7 Year Bitch. The all-female outfit developed a local following, and in 1992, C/Z Records released their debut, SICK ’EM. Sadly, Sargent died from drug-related complications prior to the album’s release. Roisin Dunne replaced her on guitar, but the band was dealt another blow when Gits frontwoman Mia Zapata was brutally raped and murdered in 1993. Their 1994 album, VIVA ZAPATA!, was in tribute to the slain singer. 7 Year Bitch’s big-label debut, GATO NEGRO, arrived in 1996, but it would be the group’s last formal release.
