About Tinu Heiniger

Tinu Heiniger is a Swiss liedermacher from Berne, Switzerland, who began releasing albums in the 1970s on the Zytglogge label before signing a major-label recording deal with EMI after the turn of the century and rising to modest Top 40 success. His music is folky and sung in Bernese dialect; latter-day albums such as Bärg u Talsänger (2008), one of his Top 40 releases on EMI, are also orchestral in their arrangements. Heiniger's tenure with Zytglogge endured for a decade and a half, commencing with Es Schysst Mi A (1976) and also including So Lüt, Wie Anger Lüt (1978), Mängisch Fägts No (1980), Live im Chrämerhuus (1982), Wassermelonemaa (1984), Sächs Liebeslieder un ei Tango (1986), Jede Chunnt u Jede Geit (1990), Mängisch Fägts No/Sächs Liebeslieder un ei Tango (1992), Läbe Wie Ne Chatz (1993), Morgeliecht (1996), Miss New Orleans (1999), and 2001 (2001). Beginning with Heimatland (2002), Heiniger switched from Zytglogge to EMI and saw his albums regularly chart within the Top 40; successive EMI releases include Am See (2004) and Bärg u Talsänger (2008). ~ Jason Birchmeier
