Whether he’s rapping or crooning with the help of Auto-Tune, Montrealer FouKi’s singsong delivery and clever rhymes always feel like a warm breeze on a summer day. They’re naturally present here on this feel-good album, his first since 2020’s JUNO-nominated Grignotines de Luxe. Ever the willing collaborator, FouKi took on a larger share of the writing duties among his cast of regular production partners, including Pops, Poolboy, QuietMike, and Ruffsound. He shows off his sense of humour on “80’s,” fantasizing about travelling back to a decade he was born too late to know, supported by an irresistible funk groove. The trippy jam “F.. Ma Life” is about loving life despite having the worst day ever. And on the title track, over a bed of swaying violins and strummed guitars, he expresses his dreams of a hate-free utopia where each day is better than the last.
