Don't You Know by Now
In Your Head
London-based Irish singer-songwriter Maverick Sabre has the kind of voice that imbues the serene with drama and the anthemic with intimacy. The four songs on his You Know How It Feels EP take bits of each approach and expand on them. “Don’t You Know by Now,” which also features a bit of a hip-hop appetizer, is a placid plea propelled by the emotionality of a love slipping away, while standout single “Signs” uses that same love as an escape from turmoil. The back half feels more grand and outward-facing—the prominent guitar lines, percussive rhythms, and stacked vocals of “In Your Head” give it a buoyancy that eludes the songs prior, and “Waiting Game” replicates that formula. Versatility has been one of Maverick Sabre’s biggest strengths; You Know How It Feels streamlines that quality.
