10 Songs, 41 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Any honey flowing through Lykke Li's coy pop fully hardened on this dark and doomy follow-up to her 2008 debut album. The Swedish singer/songwriter traps the loss of youth and love in a warped wall of sound that echoes vintage girl-group pop on big, gushing torch songs like "Unrequited Love" and "Sadness Is a Blessing." But she comes into her own when harnessing her womanly power, with big, booming percussion on the tribal-esque thriller "Get Some."

Best Album I Heard In a While, or Even Ever

This album has absolutely captivated me. I don't think I can even describe it in words how great this album is!!! Well, all I can really say is I am very impressed by Lykke Li, she has captured exactly what I was hoping for in this album.

For those people who don't really buy whole albums, I recommend buying the songs "Youth Knows No Pain", " I Follow Rivers", "Get Some", "Rich Kids Blues", "I Know Places", and "Jerome", some of the best songs I've listened to. Hah, those songs might make up most of the album, but you really need to listen to the whole album to get the real feeling. At first, I really liked only the songs I just mentioned, but listening to it more, made me realize that the whole album is just extraordinary! I don't think I've ever come across an album where I've liked, I mean LOVED, all the songs, for real! But I can't describe what it sounds like in words, you have to listen to it yourself.

This album is just "it" for me. Perfect.
