The Swedish band lighten up their sound—and their mood—on Work, with upbeat tracks like the bass-and-piano-powered "1999" and horn-soaked "Fall Hard" brimming with indie-pop sweetness. Singer Adam Olenius sounds refreshingly inspired: "I'm not slowing down," he repeats on the breezy Built to Spill-like rocker "Throwing Stones," before following up with "Even if I know that you're right, I still go on," in the moody "Four By Four." By gentle dream-pop lullaby "Too Late Too Slow," he has already moved on.
