The fifth album from pianist Jon Schmidt and electric cellist Steven Sharp Nelson sees the classical pop sensations covering everything from One Direction to Frozen’s “Let It Go,” as well as a mash-up of Dave Matthews’ “Ants Marching” with Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy.” Their duets bring out the gentle beauty in the Prelude from Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition,” while the frenetic “Batman Evolution,” which traces the progression of the Batman theme across TV and cinema over the years, showcases the duo’s spirited virtuosity.
