50's Rock n' Roll Whole Lot of Shakin'

I also was disappointed at the lack of that 'sound' that made you just love each of these songs. It's missing because they are not done by the original artists. Only those that lived through and loved these songs would buy them so why do remakes? Itunes get a clue, all the oldies are disappointing and the reviewers do not like the remix. So could you please get the originals? Thanks for trying, smile, smile.

I wouldn't and didn't buy this

I would not purchase this album if you are looking for original hits. Most of the songs are definitely remakes. Red River Rock and 26 Miles sound like the originals. A few other songs, namely Whispering Bells, Western Movies, and My Heart Is an Open Book might be originals, but it is hard to confirm just by listening to a 30 second snippet. The rest are obviously not the ones I used to listen to on the AM oldies channel.

50's Rock 'n Roll - Whole Lot of Shakin' - various artists

I want to disagree w/ the reviewer who said this was just a bad remakes album. His comment has made me cautious about buying the album, but I listened to the previews on most of the selections and they sound like the originals to me, and I'm old enough to remember the originals. Maybe he is remembering the originals as being better than they were. Common mistake to idealize the past. Anyway, based on the previews this sounds like a decent album. I'd buy it except I do have a lot of the songs already.
