Editors’ Notes Inspired by his parents' encouragement on piano and drums as a boy, songwriter/performer Michael Mott says he always called himself a “closet composer, because I was always performing and just writing on the side.” The 2007 Ithaca College grad initially made his mark performing in New York. Then he recorded his independently produced musicals Faustus and Mob Wife with Broadway arranger Kim Schamberg before signing with Broadway Records and again teaming with the arranger to produce this star-studded showcase of his songs. “Together, we have assembled a phenomenal list of singers and musicians who best represent the eclectic styles of music represented on this album,” Mott says. “We’ve paired these amazing artists with songs from my catalog, including pieces from Faustus and Mob Wife, as well as some of my stand-alone pop, jazz, and swing songs. The whole album really tells a story that’s representative of me and my journey, and I hope everyone will be able to relate to its message."
