Vintage Americana at its best

I love this album. All twelve songs are interesting and original songs that reference some form of "old timey" music, be it blues, cabaret, swing, or country. There are happy songs (The Cat's Meow), gleefully macabre songs (The World's Fair Hotel, What the Moon Has Done), songs that make me shake my hips (Lurid Lounge) and even educational songs. I had no idea that the Monongah mining disaster existed until I heard track 4, which is my personal favorite. The two lead singers (a lady and gent) have great polished voices - it's like they came from another era, and the rest of the band, featuring horns and upright bass, are fantastic. I would recommend this album to anyone.
