AJR’s 2016 EP shows brothers Adam, Jack, and Ryan Met continuing their course of crafting dazzling DIY pop music. Things kick off with the heavy, brash rhythms of “Come Hang Out,” which layers handclaps over infectious bridges and airy vocals. A dramatic piano intro eases into “Weak” before the song explodes with a gigantic vocal hook and pulsing synths. Then AJR bring it home with the gospel-tinged, feel-good ending “No Grass Today,” a rousing, soulful ode to getting high on life.
