12 Songs, 43 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Grouplove's third album sharply navigates '90s alt-rock through modern pop motifs. Hannah Hooper howls like Katy Perry on the piano-pounding "Remember That Night" before a surge of knotted-up guitars pour over "Do You Love Someone." Hooper and hubby Christian Zucconi play off each other's vocals over the buoyant synth-rock of "Good Morning" and "Cannonball," in which he works his signature snarl into a smooth rap flow. And the messiest track may be their best: The Pixies-esque grunge rocker "Traumatized" documents the couple's plunge into parenthood.

Parental Advisory: Explicit Lyrics. Mastered for iTunes

WHAT EVERYONE SAYS ABOUT EVERY BAND’S NEW MUSIC

“It’s too glossy”
“Their old stuff is better”
“Generic”
“What happened to their original sound?”
“Sounds like everything else out today”
STOP RIGHT THERE! GROUPLOVE AND EVERY OTHER MUSIC ARTIST DOESN'T WANT TO PUT OUT THE SAME DANG MUSIC ON EVERY ALBUM SO IT SOUNDS LIKE THEIR OLD STUFF. ARTISTS WANT TO EXPERIMENT WITH NEW SOUNDS AND TECHNIQUES- THAT DOESN’T MEAN IT’S GENERIC TRASH. WHEN ARTISTS DO PUT OUT NEW MUSIC, DIFFERING FROM THEIR OLD, THAT’S WHEN THE TRUE FANS SHOW AND DON’T COMMENT SNARKY PHRASES ABOUT “THEIR OLD MUSIC WAS BETTER” TRASH.

I just had to rant there.

...Yes I just threw a whole lotta shade.

Confused

This album came out in September 2016... why is it just on here in Aug 2017? Anyway, awesome album!

Pretty cool.

These guys are growing on me. Coincidentally, I went to high school with a member of this band (Daniel Gleason). He was the leader singer of 'blissfield' in high school then they changed their name to 'Anah Aevia'. Saw them live a few times. Grouplove is a totally different sound though. Let's just say we all grow up and mature lol. Funny to see someone from high school in a band who made it big. In case you read this, congrats Daniel. And Grouplove, you got a good member. Have a whole new reason to buy some of their stuff now.
