Indigo1966 ,

ECM period Bill Connors material - previously unreleased.

I am a huge fan of guitarist Bill Connors especially his mid to late's 1970's acoustic period during which time Bill recorded three brilliant albums for ECM Records: "Theme to the Gaurdian", "Of Mist and Melting" and "Swimming with a Hole In My Body".

"Waterlilies" was apparently recorded in the early 1980's and includes the fabulous Nana Vasconcelos and flautist/composer Nicholas Pike.

It is simply amazing that this recording was never released back in the day when it was recorded. This album would have easily fit well into ECM's catalog but it was not meant to be.

Thankfully Nicholas Pike decided to release this and even though it is only available as an digital download only release, this album is a MUST HAVE for any and all Bill Connors fans.

Nicholas Pike composed all of the songs and the interplay among the musicians is excellent throughout. The recording quality is also quite good and again, ECM should have signed these guys and released this album as it was and is definitely up to their high recording standards.

I will admit that I purchased this album because I will buy anything that I can find that includes Bill Connors. The real surprise here is the superlative flute playing and composing by Nicholas Pike.

Buy this album, you will love it!!
