The Taylor, S.C.–based Wasted Wine began in 2006 as an acoustic chamber-folk duo. They’ve since added new members who have altered the band’s chemistry and their approach. WW show flashes of Eastern European and Middle Eastern–styled melodies and have earned comparisons to Gogol Bordello, The Decemberists, and Frenchy & The Punk for their gypsy-influenced dreams and cabaret-styled instrumentation highlighting accordion, bouzouki, harmonium, and violin. The exotic flow of “Shoreline Seniorita,” "The Strangest of Eyes,” and “The Post Office” (including quiet narration) creates an overriding sense of continuity and concept.
