Surprisingly good

Michael Giacchino, to me, always seems to write great scores when no one is looking or expectations are low. Incredibles, Tomorrowland, Cars 2 are all terrific. Give him a blockbuster like Star Wars, Star Trek or Spiderman, however, and it's gutterballs. War falls into the former category. I didn't expect much--especially after Dawn, Rogue One, Jurassic World, Star Trek, etc. but this time around the themes are almost uniformly excellent and call back to the original Jerry Goldsmith score. Most of all, the score is a good listen on its own, which again, my opinion here, is a weakness of Mr. Giacchino's. I'd say over half the music is worth listening to and purchasing, so you might as well purchase the whole album.

Great score

Giacchino getting back to basics. He absolutely killed it, I've been getting very sick of Michael he's everywhere with more than 5 films coming out a year not even hans zimmer is that busy and he has people assisting him with his music. rogue one and doctor strange were garbage and Spider-Man homecoming was not that great, but this is fantastic. I still think he needs to take a break and let others do some scores because he's starting to repeat himself.
