5 Songs, 18 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

On their first EP, Jordan Walker and Johnny McGuire handily blend heartland rock influences with timeless pop instincts and a healthy dose of country twang. "Best Kinda Bad" drops some hints at where the duo's coming from, celebrating a "Tom Petty girl in a boy-band world," and the driving momentum and jangling guitars of "18 Forever" speak to the influence of prime Petty. But the huge hooks and romantic, pop-country vibe of "Lost" and "Til Tomorrow" show that Walker McGuire is also keyed in to what's happening in modern-day Nashville.
