Founded by American singer/songwriter Adam Roth and Swedish producers Fredrik Eriksson and Sebastian Fritze, L.A.’s Grizfolk unveil a bold fusion of rootsy alt-rock and European electronic pop on their debut. Twangy guitars ride purring grooves, while synthesizers shimmer like desert stars. Roth’s hypnotic voice is exceptionally adaptable: On the open-road anthems “Bob Marley” and “Waiting for You,” he shouts from the depths of his gut like a young Bruce Springsteen. In contrast, the atmospheric ballad “Bohemian Bird” finds him morphing into a New Romantic drowning in tragic love.
