Kurt Vile gets expansive on his fifth record in six years. On previous releases, he perfected the art of the concise, intimate psych-pop song; here, his beautiful, rambling, reverb-drenched electric melodies and textured, finger-picked acoustic runs circle but never settle, while his lyrics explore the minutiae of life, the little details that matter most to him. He creates a complete landscape, with most songs stretching beyond pop’s traditional three to four minutes to create a subtle, thoughtful world you’ll truly get lost in.
