Those of you who don't know how a single works.

For any album, there are singles, a specific track that usually gets a video and radio treatment. Each album has multiple singles and having single "cd"s are used for promo purposes. The first single was The Catalyst, which came out before the album. The second single is now Waiting for the End. It doesn't seem as interesting in the digital world, but getting a single in a physical cd format is pretty cool.

Stop complaining about how this should have come out before the album, since the idea of singles is not limited to the pre-release of any album.

one of their best

Not the old LP, but it really is an awesome song. To everyone who wants the old LP, I highly suggest you listen to (or read the lyrics to) When They Come For Me.

A Thousand Suns was very different but also very good and this single is one of the best songs on the album and one of their more meaningful songs they've ever done and it shows. It's very very good and everyone should give it a few listens before judging it for yourself.

The remix is cool but nothing special. I kinda want my money back since it's a remix contest runner-up and nothing really official.

Great song, not so great single

Waiting for the End is constantly on repeat on my iTunes, iPhone, and iPod. However, are all the singles from A Thousand Suns just going to have the song and a already-available-on-the-internet-or-somewhere-else live single or one of the "The Catalyst" remixes? That doesn't make the idea of purchasing the singles seem all that worthy, but still a great album. When They Come For Me for next single!
