EDITORS’ NOTES

"Pompeii" was released in 2013 but erupted in 2014, cementing Bastille as one of the hottest new bands in rock. Other People's Heartache is the third installment of their mixtape/collaboration series, and in addition to tiding fans over between albums it serves to illustrate just how diverse the London band's sonic palette is. "Weapon," featuring Angel Haze, is synth-heavy industrial hip-hop, while "Torn Apart" features a sturdy thump designed for dancefloors. With its churning beats and ominous guitars, "The Diver" leverages the band's trademark grandiosity, whereas things lighten up on the Haim collaboration "Bite Down," a swaggering slab of soul-funk.
