19th Century Indie

I agree with the review that says The Brobecks' "Violent Things" sounds like 19th Century Indie rock... and I love it. This entire album has been pieced together beautifully, right down to the tiniest detail. Much love to Dallon and the boys. I'm excited to see what will happen next.

Most succesfuly whim-bought album

I bought this album on a whim...I heard that "former member of the Brobecks: Dallon Weekes" was now joining my favorite band, Panic at the Disco. I was hoping that they would find someone at least close to being as talented as Ryan Ross as a replacement, and was not disapointed.
After listening to one song I bought the entire album,m which usually isn't a smart thing to do, but in this case it worked out perfectly. The Brobecks are now in my top 5 favorite bands.
I'm surprised that not many people have heard of them. But I suppose it doesn't matter much now since Dallon Weekes left?
Ah, no matter. 5 stars for 13 great songs! My favorite of all of them is a tie between Love at First Sight (which is a different style than the rest of their songsand Second Boys Will be First Choice.
My least favorite song (which I still liked) was Boring...it WAS boring, which I suppose is the point, but I find myself wanting to fall asleep listening to it.
If I had to say what their music sounds similar to, I'd say somewhere between My Chemical Romance's: Black Parade album, and Panic! at the Disco's: A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. But only vaguely...part of what makes The Brobecks great is their unique sound.

I've been fortunate enough to see the Brobecks live in concert 4 times now. These boys are INCREDIBLE, often outshining the "more polished" headlining acts. If you love the tunes here, make the trip to SLC, Utah or wherever you can find them playing live. They are absolutely the BEST (and you won't regret purchasing the CD either...).
