Craptacular sawing

These pieces and arrangements leave much to be desired. Technique aside, the CD is musically lacking.

Sturm und Drang

The worst thing one can say about a Kronos collaboration is that it's forgettable. Uniko is anything but. These are works that are pure sound and fury; everything about the arrangements comes at you with force and weight, in waves and layers and echoes that build up, crash, and recede. And repeats until you are overwhelmed. Pohjonen's scratchy electro-accordion, and Kosminen's abrasive sampling provide a perfect texture to the normally sophisticated quartet sound. For maximum impact, start with 'Plasma' followed by 'Kalma'. (These are continuous pieces, so you can play them gapless as well).

Forget about what a string quartet is supposed to be, this is a bunch of musicians simply exploring sound and enjoying the transgressions they make in the process.

This is honestly one of the most amazing music I have ever heard without a doubt. Just wonderful
