EDITORS’ NOTES

They may be known for black attire and dark fascinations, but the seventh album from this Toronto nu-goth outfit radiates light. Under Your Spell instantly transfixes with the DayGlo dream pop of “One,” whose widescreen splendor evokes the synth fantasias of M83. And while “All of Nothing” keeps the metallic guitar roar of the band’s early work, the skittering, strobe-lit rhythms and the romantic ruminations of femme-fatale frontwoman Chibi are closer in spirit to post-EDM R&B.

Feeling Every Song

I came across TBM in 08 when I was recovering from a surgery. The song that got me was walking with strangers and it put its hooks in deep. I would lay there with my headphones on and turn it up loud enough to where I felt like I was a part of the music. I have done that countless times since, with different songs. And just when I think that I have found my favorite song, here comes another new favorite. Then another one and another one. Thank you so much for making this music for all of the fans that feel just as I do. Cannot wait to pull out the headphones and take another journey with a new favorite I'm sure to find. 😜

Album of the year!

I've been a TBM fan since Walking with Strangers. They know melody and how to make goth rock with a pop melody truly beautiful. Pins and needles was my favorite album till now. Under your spell is deep, complex and wonderful! Endless is my favorite and under your spell is so touching! Thank you for your art and sharing with the world!

Dissapointing

I normally quite like their albums but this one seems to be stuck in first gear. The Melodies are borderline absent and replaced is a very narrow cord progression that simply repeats. The songs are almost like intros that never develop. The diverse pacing and distinct tunes from the previous albums are simply absent here.
Too bad.
