i liked this album but it kinda sounded similar. the conductors departure was a bit better than this only because it moved around more. but still get this along with their other album.

The Infinite Soundtrack To My Life ,

The Dream Theater of Death Metal

just listened to the preview of "Shackled To Guilt" and wow, I thought they sound like death metal with prog roots, but its not melodic death. I'm going to call this band the Dream theater of Death metal, because they are not melodic, and melo death and death metal are 2 different genres. I'm going to be on the lookout for this band.

Late Riser ,

The pinnacle of the genre-- at least for the past ten years

Honestly, if I'd never heard of Atheist, I'd be tempted to call this *the* greatest death metal album ever. The "tech" element is obviously outstanding, and despite what the review says there's a very prominent sense of frantic savagery throughout. Plus: actual songs! In a genre where the rule of the day seems to be "Write 200 riffs, then string them haphazardly together," Anata has written songs with actual structure, and instantly memorable musical ideas, all while throwing more than enough head-spinning twists into the mix to keep things interesting. Quite an accomplishment, and one that needs to be heard to be believed.
