EDITORS’ NOTES

Trance doesn't get much more emotional—or exhilarating—than Above & Beyond's debut album, which carefully balances driving, rolling beats and steely synths with soaring vocals and the occasional touch of guitar and piano. They follow their dance-floor impulses on dark, mesmerizing cuts like "World on Fire" and "Liquid Love"; at the other end of the spectrum lies the beatless "Good for Me," featuring Zoë Johnston's airy, spine-tingling vocal harmonies. And on the moody "Stealing Time," with its echoes of Underworld and Pet Shop Boys, they assume their place in the pop pantheon, too.

Fall in Love with Electronic Music

Above & Beyond have been a constant source of excellent uplifting trance music for the last 6 years. "Tri-State" is no exception to the ultra high standards that fans of their music have come to expect.

For anyone who is familiar with the artist known as Chicane (aka Nick Bracegirdle), the is the album that he should have made as a follow up the the 1996 classic "Far From the Maddening Crowds." "Tri-State" is deep and contemplative in mood and definitely gives the listener a full spectrum of emotional experiences.

Highlights include "Can't Sleep," "Alone Tonight," and the gorgeous closing ballad "Home."

This is a true MUST HAVE!

Long Awaited Quality Choon's.

As some prosecuters of trance would put it: 'Trance is Dead'. Obviously they haven't spoken with, Paavo, Tony and Jono of Above & Beyond. The long awaited release of their debut artist album has been well received in the community of dance. Their album, cleverly dubbed, 'Tri-State' has been in the making for many years. Tracks from the album have been scoring continuous play from top DJ's like, Tiesto and Armin van Buuren. This album isn't their usual Epic/Peak-Hour Trance, but an educated expression of floor pounding sounds that they've perfected through the years. This album will convert any dance enthusiast to the ways of Anjunabeats and prove that Trance is NOT dead. Overall, this release is A MUST HAVE IN YOUR COLLECTION. If it were possible, I'd give the album 10 stars out of 5. Next: Above & Beyond have us waiting for the long over-due release of the Oceanlab album.....
