Transit Blues

Transit Blues

Although Transit Blues’ opening salvo, "Praise Poison," is all pummeling metalcore and whiplash guitars, for the most part The Devil Wears Prada’s sixth album sees them favoring bold sonic departures. Electronic programming whirrs through "The Condition," while "To the Key of Evergreen" tempers snarling licks with spacious post-rock that blooms like a sunrise. Mike Hranica's incisive lyrics allude to William Faulkner and Simone de Beauvoir while covering everyday life's nagging preoccupations—restlessness, longing, anxiety—as well as weightier issues, such as gun control.
