“In this moment, I am enjoying everything I do, as if I was starting from scratch,” Sech tells Apple Music. The singer and producer from Río Abajo had not released an album since 42, in 2021. But now that he has signed a contract with Rimas Entertainment, the same label as Bad Bunny, the Panamanian is at an enviable peak of creativity. “I’ve grown more as a person and have learned not to focus on the negative aspects of life,” he explains. “I’ll try to breathe and get better, focus on my health, mind, and heart. This is a maturity stage.” Sech channels the progressive tendencies of neo-reggaetón on “Picasso,” which complements its futuristic rhythm with a sample of “Rosas,” the pop anthem by Spanish band La Oreja de Van Gogh. On “1-0,” he teams up with ELENA ROSE to explore the textures of Afrobeat, relying on sharp electric guitar lines to support lyrics about heartbreak. On the verge of turning 31, Sech has found a new definition of success. “In my opinion, being successful is knowing that—thank God—everyone respects me,” he says. “There are artists who get plenty of streams, but who are not respected. That is the most important thing to me. For a song to connect with people, one must not only work, but also have a heart and feeling.” Below, Sech analyzes four key songs from Tranki, Todo Pasa. “Chiste JAJA” “This is a very cool song and I like the theme contained in the lyrics. Sometimes, a person fails you and then they come and apologize, but it’s too late. There is more that needs to be proved because, at that very moment, it all feels like a joke. Musically, it’s a weird mix. It includes electronics, house, and mambo, since we also recorded live instruments. It’s a fusion of many elements.” “Picasso” “One of this track’s lines is legendary: ‘ni aunque fueras Picasso en su vida pintas’ [not even if you were Picasso would you be represented in her life]. I loved the drums. Their flow that reminds me of the time when ‘Te Boté’ came out. It was a different kind of reggaetón. I am the producer of my own material. I do almost all of my songs, as well as the instrumental parts, from the time I started until today.” “1-0” (with ELENA ROSE) “An incredible Afrobeats song. I had done it in 2021, but I got tangled up back then, and only now I had the opportunity to release it. I don’t like to follow everything that’s happening in the music scene of a specific moment in time. It’s just me and that’s it. I’m fascinated by this tune. ELENA is one of my favorite artists.” “Tus Labios” (with Beéle) “It came out at a challenging time in my life. It had many streams then, but I was not present and I was left with the feeling that it could have gone further. As soon as I had the opportunity to bring the song to this new beginning of my career, I made a remix of it. I have a lot of faith in it. It is one of my favorites. I also wanted to listen to it with the addition of Beéle, a talent that I love. Whatever happens in the end is in God’s, and my fans’, hands. As artists, we make music and give our best. Then people decide what works or doesn’t. It’s at the end of the day that the verdict takes place.”
